  • Executive Management OHS Forum - Due Diligence: Preparing Community Sector Leaders for the Work Health & Safety Act
    The harmonisation of OHS Laws in Australia has been under consideration since 1995. National review of OHS legislation commenced in 2008 and culminated in the release of the Model Work Health and Safety Act in 2009. VCOSS is working with National Disability Services Victoria (NDS), The Centre for Excellence in Child and Family Welfare, Kindergarten Parents Victoria (KPV) and Psychiatric Disability Services Victoria (VICSERV) to run a forum targeted at sector leaders, CEOs, board members and senior managers. This interactive forum will discuss the impact of the Act that will be in effect in all states and territories from January 2012. One of the most important reforms of the Act is the introduction of a duty of care on officers of organisations. It is essential that employers be aware of their responsibilities under this Act.
