The Big Switch casts its net nationwide to get 500,000 Australians sign an online pledge to get carbon emissions down by 30 per cent by 2020.
Big Switch organizers, Greenpeace and the Conservation Councils of Australia, will engage households in the campaign using an interactive site and have sent all federal MPs surveys asking for their opinion on climate change.
Their replies would be posted on the Big Switch site after its launch later this month.
Queensland Conservation Council Director Toby Hutcheon has called on politicians to follow the UK's example of setting targets for deep emission cuts before climate change dips into dangerous levels.
